Choosing a Teaching Method
The homeschool movement has brought about (or restored) many superior, efficient, and exciting teaching approaches. Most of you reading this were taught in a public school using the traditional textbook method. Blot out all your preconceived ideas of how you think school should be and your previous experience of education. Find out how you and your children like to learn. Real effectiveness is developed over time by improving a few steps at a time. All children have different gift and talents. Read the Parable About the Animal School to put this into focus. Browse through the different teaching approaches on this site to find the method that fit your family.
Homeschool Support and Resources
Those of us who began homeschooling 15 years ago had almost no resources. Today there are hundreds of books, dozens of magazines, Internet list groups, message boards, support groups and more to help you. Browse through this site to find out more.
Classical Education?
The book "The Well Trained Mind" has become a best seller in the homeschool community. We are very concerned about the direction this book is taking homeschoolers. Before purchasing this book please READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!

Wisdom: An Internet Linked
Unit Study
Is your homeschooling on the right path? Are
you reaching for the right goal? It does not matter how hard you
try or how diligent you are if you don’t have the right directions.
You would still be lost! Suppose you wanted to go to a city in Texas
but you were given a map to Florida mislabeled Texas? Following
the directions would not work even if you changed your tried harder,
or increased your speed. You would still be lost! The problem is
not your attitude or effort. The problem
is you have the wrong map.
Many homeschoolers are following the wrong map on
their homeschool journey. They follow the state standards, curriculum
scope and sequence or SAT benchmarks. This
unique unit study is a map to TRUE Wisdom. A map
is not a territory it is explanation of certain aspects of a territory.
In this study you will learn that true wisdom is understanding and
knowing God. The moment we understand and know God--we begin to
see His holiness--we see His purposes, His love for men; we know
who God is, so there's never any hesitation to obey Him. By following
this map to Wisdom you and your students will learn:
- Where the wise path is and how to stay on it
- How to stay off the worldly path
- How to set wise goals
- The importance of obedience
- How to pray for wisdom
- How to study God’s Word
- How to make wise decisions
- How to choose friends wisely
- How to choose counsel wisely
- How to Managing Conflict Wisely
- How to have the ultimate relationship with Christ
- And more!
This study is one of the
most important things
you will ever do with your children!
Get on the Right Path, NOW!
There are two ways to live life wisely or unwise.
When we follow the path of wisdom the results are joy, peace, contentment,
confidence and in the presence of God. The results of living unwisely
are conflict, discouragement, disappointment, dissolution, and discontentment.
Can you see this information is more important than any academics?
The Bible views man as a unified whole never separating academic
learning from spiritual wisdom.
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools,
but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore
be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:15-17.
According to Proverbs, the wise man has length of
days and long life and peace and prosperity. God desires that we
walk wisely so we can become the persons He created us to be and
accomplish the work He has called us to do.
Wisdom Unit Study Comments
and Reviews
Everyone I talk to tells what a bargain Heart of Wisdom studies
are. My goodness, in Wisdom alone I have downloaded enough
web sites to be well worth purchasing a book that cost $40-50,
rather than the $15 you sell this at. We are loving the Wisdom
just as much as the Creation, which was also worth its
weight in gold. —Kathy Kin, Family Bookshelf
We
started the Wisdom Unit about a month ago...my daughters
are 15 and 17. Since we started using Heart of Wisdom several
years ago guess who's learned the most? That would be me!!! Yes,
my girls have learned much, too, but I am mostly convinced that
God brought HOW into our lives to teach me and the Wisdom Unit
is no exception. It's not that I didn't learn any of what's in
there before, but it is so well-organized and in-depth that I
am re-learning and being added to with its content. Plus, it is
so timely with all the major (and minor) decisions in our lives
this year. I am working ahead in the unit on my own and so appreciating
its input in my life. It is an amazing Unit Study and I am so
thankful for its part in "our" curriculum.
I can't tell you what a blessing the Wisdom Unit Study
has been to our family. Its just what we needed to get back on
track. We had drifted from our original goal to teach our children
God's ways. Our focus switched to academics, logic and Latin --of
all things! The children really enjoy the lessons and look forward
to them. We've all really enjoyed Bible tidbits you link to on
the Internet. I feel like I am now following God's way and the
burden has been lifted! It is true His burden is light. When I
stopped pursuing the world and got the right focus, school became
much easier. God bless your work. —Maria
I was thrilled to find the Wisdom Unit Study. It was what we needed
to set our priorities straight and get back in balance. Thank
you so much for your had work. We love the links and the writing
helps! --Debbie Thomas
