Nokia today introduced the Near Field Communications (NFC) shell announced last year for the Nokia 3220. The Nokia NFC shell enables users to pay for items from debit or credit accounts simply by touching a point of sales device. Additionally, the device can act as an electronic ticket.
In the first live NFC-based public transport ticketing showcase of its kind, Nokia 3220 mobile phones will be tested within the local bus network in the city of Hanau, near Frankfurt, Germany.
The Nokia NFC shell will be available in mid 2005 through carriers. Both Visa and Mastercard have signed on to work with Nokia on the service.
An illuminated keypad makes dialing easy in the dark, while a headset jack gives you the option of hands-free operation. Four-way conferencing allows you to talk with multiple people, while a two-way intercom lets you communicate with family and friends near the other phone.
With call waiting, you won't miss any important calls, while Caller ID (with subscription to telephone company services) means you can avoid those calls you would rather miss. A great way to expand your current Panasonic phone system, the KX-TG2700S also features six selectable ring tones as well as a handset volume control. Panasonic also provides a one-year parts and labor warranty.
The caller ID features a 30-number internal memory, while a 30-number phone directory allows you to store your most important numbers internally for easy recall. A display-and-dial feature also allows you to scroll through the caller ID and phone directory lists and dial a number with the touch of a button.
A handset speakerphone is provided, while headset compatibility and an included belt clip allow you to communicate on the phone while performing other daily tasks. An illuminated keypad makes dialing in poorly-lit environments a snap, and the second handset allows you to have telephone extensions in separate locations, without an additional phone jack. Additionally, a wall-mounting option lets you keep your countertop clear from any unnecessary clutter.
