Interesting, but somewhat disappointing, rom-com., 9 June 2004
Author: TxMike from Houston, Tx, USA, Earth

The team, and screenwriter, that made 'Le Divorce' also made 'A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries' with Leelee Sobieski, and 'The Remains of the Day' with the British cast. This movie has a similar feel to it, and although it is billed as a romantic comedy, simply isn't very funny. Something about the mood of the characters and the predicaments they get into. Set in Paris, and with American, British, and French actors (including one of my favorites, Leslie Caron), it is as much about different customs as anything else. My wife and I watched, but both expressed 'that was a bit strange.' I don't think it would appeal to most viewers, but it is NOT a '1' as many voted. Perhaps a rating of 4 or 5 is best, and best enjoyed by those who enjoy quirky international humor. The critic Ebert has a complete and accurate review, although I don't rate it as highly as he does.
