The Madrone Homeschool

Our Homeschool

Welcome.

We've homeschooled our children all along. We officially started homeschooling in 1993, when our eldest was 4.75. We decided to try homeschooling her instead of sending her to a public or private school. Within a few weeks, we realized that we'd found something that works. The rest, as they say, is history.

I first put up Heather's Homeschooling Page in 1995. Most of the articles included on the older page are of even earlier vintage. As time passed, my homeschooling page became more and more outdated.

This page is under construction. A bit like life itself.

Here are some things you can expect to find here (if not now, later):

 A panoply of educational resources.

 Living, learning, growing, working, family-style.

 Why we homeschool.

Unschooling, our best crack at an educational philosophy.

And what about socialization? (Gee, I'm glad you asked.)

The role of the state in education.

 The mathematics of joy.

 The science of living.

 The art of loving.

 The literature of life.

 The society of minds.

Nothing poetry, as suggested by Molly.

 The original Heather's Homeschooling Page.
