Seven Tips for Organizing Your Homeschool
One of the most daunting tasks of homeschooling is keeping track of work throughout the year.

Curriculum Ideas
Take a Break!
By Wendy Toy
Breaks are an important part of life and vital in homeschooling. They can be spontaneous, like our boat ride, but sometimes, especially if you like to have a school routine or keep a schedule, you may need to plan them.

Help your Gradeschooler write!
This would be a great Spring story, but the author ran out of ideas after the first few sentences! Finish this story, please! We're all interested in seeing what happens next. Once you are done, you can e-mail your ending to us.

70 Uses for a Humble Jug of Vinegar
Let your child guide you through this lesson. Do they want to try some of these natural remedies? Do they want to cook or clean? Take a few days and try a few things. Perhaps a challenge to see how many uses on this list they can do.

Homeschool Socialization
The Truth About Homeschooling and Socialization
It's time for homeschoolers to tell the truth about "socialization." It is a problem! The phone never stops ringing, the teenager's email has crashed the computer, and the front yard is patches of dandelions and dirt because there are always kids out there socializing!

Strike-Out Lessons
We had moved from the town our son played small fry with last year, but having built a rapport with his teammates, we wanted him to finish the league with the same team.

Are You Going to Give Up?
The Homogeneous Trinity
I had ambitious plans for my first year of homeschooling: Memorize Psalms in September and work through pre-algebra by January -- for second grade. However, my daughter's personality collided with my plans.

Do you need other teachers?
To Pay or Not to Pay?

As a homeschooling dad, Bryan Davis realizes he's faced with that question for one simple reason; in some educational disciplines he's clueless.

Parent Tip!
SPELLING LESSONS

My son was doing poorly with his advanced second-grade spelling words. We couldn't change programs and I was afraid he would fail, especially since he had a lot of book work that he hated doing. One day, a thought popped into my head. Why couldn't he take quizzes on the refrigerator using magnetic letters to prepare for his written test? And maybe add extra spelling practice there, too?

I went to our local supply store and bought a set of letters to give it a try.

The first day we had an instant victory. He spent an entire hour without complaint working on each word until he got it right. A whole hour! When his quiz came, his grades dramatically improved and stayed that way the rest of the year. Brandy S. Brow
